This year’s focus for Fayetteville’s African-American Heritage Tour is the life and times of Professor Edward Evans (1863-1943). Both Evans and his wife Sallie were graduates of the State Normal School, which would later become Fayetteville State University. Evans was a premier and long serving educator, as well as the first principal of Orange Street School, built in 1915.
